So, I have to tell you a little story. Yesterday we went on a hike to find a new waterfall by the Abiqua river, in Silverton. It is called the Abiqua Falls. The picture is very beautiful. Anyway, Jason and I had never been there... but we had a map. ;) We had the kids with us. We set out on a trail that, we thought, led to the falls. Kyle started singing a new song. "Hike, hike, hike, we're walking through the woods... hike, hike, hike, we're walking through the woods!" Over and over again. It was so funny! :) We forgot the stroller, and we forgot the baby carrier. So we carried Eric. We walked and walked... and walked. It was a beautiful day. It was really warm but there was a cool breeze that kept us from dieing. We walked for so long and it looked like the road would never end so we decided to turn around and head back... back up the hill... walking again... forever. We were hot, sweaty, grumpy and tired. Kyle was such a trooper. He walked by himself the whole time. We never found the falls. We could hear them, but never got to them. When we got home Jason looked on Google Earth to see how close we were. You will never guess. It was just around the corner!!!! I am not even kidding. Just around the flippin corner. Even after all that it was still nice to be out as a family enjoying the beautiful scenery. Moral of the story?... Make sure you know where you are going and how to get there... before you drag the kids along.
